Scott W. Pierce, DVM, was the second of five siblings raised in
Maryville, Missouri, a small college town and farming community. Upon graduating from
Northwest Missouri State University, and influenced by helping a veterinarian-father, Dr.
Pierce enrolled in the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine.
Following his graduation in 1983, he practiced in Hot Springs, Arkansas and Lee's Summit,
Missouri.
He joined Rood and Riddle PSC, Lexington, Kentucky in 1985 as an associate veterinarian.
In 1989, he became a partner in Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital, one of the four original
members in the firm, where he continues in active practice.
He has written numerous equine articles based on clinical research and studies. One of his
articles was recently published in Hyalronan: Structure, Metabolism, Biological
Activities, Therapeutic Applications, Volume II. As a co-author, Dr. Pierce also received
the 2006 "Clinical Evidence Literary Award" from the Equine Veterinary Journal in England.
In addition, Dr. Pierce has presented numerous papers at meetings of the American
Association of Equine Practitioners.
He is a member of the American and Kentucky Veterinary Medical Associations; the American
and Kentucky Associations of Equine Practitioners; the American Association for the
Advancement of Science; and the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons.

Stuart L. Pierce, DVM, much as his brother, Scott, was influenced by his
father, an active mixed animal veterinarian in Missouri for 47 years. In a similar family
tradition, following his attendance at the Northwest Missouri State University, he entered
the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine.
He received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1992. Upon graduation he relocated
to Kentucky where he was an associate veterinarian south of Lexington.
He and his brother Scott W. Pierce are partners and owners of Kinetic Technologies, LLC.
